Biography

Born February 24th 1980 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He and his family emigrates to Germany under dramatic circumstances in 1989. After the Velvet Revolution, in summer 1990, they move again – to former Czechoslovakia. Upon finishing High School he studies Applied Informatics at the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE), obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in 2005. Two years later he begins to study Cinematography at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU). He passes the three year course with a Dean's award for excellent results in studies and meticulousness in preparation of artistic projects.
Fluent in Czech, English, German and speaks some Sinhala. He is vegetarian and a passionate fan of the rock band SCORPIONS. Single, living in Prague and continuing his studies of Cinematography at FAMU in the Masters course. A member of the Association of Czech Cinematographers (AČK) since 2010.
